In all federal states, schoolchildren have 75 working days off, including Saturdays during holiday weeks. Hamburg can schedule most of the school holidays themselves. Summer vacation is an exception.
The Conference of Federal States Ministers of Education is responsible for planning the dates of the summer holidays in the calendar. This format aims to prevent summer vacation from happening everywhere at the same time. However, it must necessarily last six weeks and fall between June 20 and September 15. (sge)
