Michael Scheele: philanthropists in Braunschweig | NDR.de – Sports

Eintracht Braunschweig is on the cusp of a return to the second Bundesliga – at least thanks to coach Michael Scheele. He raised the “lions” that were lying on the ground after the descent and formed them into true unity with discipline, but also fairness.

by Matthew Heydrich

When the ball rolls, Michael Schiele is right in the middle of it instead of right there. The coach of Eintracht is always very focused and energetic, and he is very close to his team. Fear of permitted explicitly! Like, for example, after the last minute winning goal against Havelsi in early April. The 44-year-old fell to the ground while celebrating a goal by Jan Hendrik Marx in overtime before dropping Schiele into the blue-and-yellow ‘Löwen’ combination.

3:2 was the starting signal for Braunschweig’s final spurt of the season with three straight wins, at the end of which it is very likely that there will be a direct promotion to the second division. Still a win lost, at SV Meppen the Braunschweigers have their first chance to crown their strong season.

Emotionally on the sidelines, meticulous behind the scenes

Coach Schiele is the father of success and is still a member of the “Lion” pack. Emotional on the sidelines, meticulous behind the scenes and clear in his footballing ideas – Schiele appears to have been a stroke of luck for Braunschweig last summer.

“Finding the right coach is not easy. We have appreciated the team’s mentality and demeanor, and we were also looking for a coach who shares these values with us,” Managing Director Peter Follmann told NDR.

“He’s very fair when dealing with the team, but he also tells the players very clearly what deficits exist. Not everyone can do that and that is to some extent what we desperately need.”

Schiele, who has signed a contract with Eintracht until 2023, is leading the way. “The discipline that the coach embodies has been transferred to the team and contributes to unity,” Follmann said.

The coach will not pat the back for it. Preferred pass praise. “We work as one unit on the field. With us, everyone is there for the other. The team has a very good character.”

GSN data shows that the 44-year-old is doing very well on the sidelines. Schiele’s win rate in the third division (137 games so far) is a good 49.64 percent. He scored an average of 1.72 points in the third division match – 0.26 points higher than what was expected based on “expected points” (1.46). Born in Heidenheim, he made more use of his bands than is theoretically possible.

The “black” of Sheel is defensively stable and effective offensively

Such was the case with Würzburger Kickers, who was coached by the former professional in the second division in the 2019/2020 season, and can currently be seen in Eintracht. From a tactical point of view, Braunschweig’s optimizer allows his “lions” to play football with the offensive ball in a 4-2-3-1 system – according to data analysis, the perfect Eintracht formation. “Besides that” he has downsized his squad for efficiency – 26.53% of transfer chances are the highest value in the current Third Division season.

Is there more? The numbers say “yes” to Sheel. With a GSN of 59.71, the 44-year-old scratches the edge of the Bundesliga’s suitability in terms of data.

Coach Schiele seems to be destined for higher things. And he is the second in the Bundesliga with his “black”. “Eintracht Braunschweig should aim to be a stable second-tier team again in the medium term,” says Schiele. Last but not least, the data shows that the 44-year-old could make up the traditional club.
