The Simpsons has been providing television entertainment since 1989. The long-running American animated series created by Matt Groening has achieved cult status with over 700 episodes. The focus is on the Simpsons – made up of parents Homer and Marge and children Bart, Lisa and Maggie – whose lives are set in the fictional town of Springfield.

The series is known for over-criticizing aspects of American everyday life. In addition, her anticipation of things and events is often discussed. These are ten of the most incredible predictions from The Simpsons, which came true later – or very similarly.

1. Donald Trump becomes President of the United States

In the eleventh episode of Bart’s Vision of the Future (2000), Bart is able to see the future with the help of a native. His sister, Lisa, will become the President of the United States, replacing her predecessor Donald Trump, who left behind, according to Lisa, “a huge budget mess.” Almost 17 years later, this prediction came true and Trump opened the office of the 45th President of the United States of America. It is arguably the most famous prediction from the series.

2. Germany wins the World Cup in Brazil

This episode is also very close to reality. In “Homer the Whistle” of the 25th season, which premiered in March 2014 in the USA, Homer blew the whistle on the World Cup final between Germany and Brazil. The South American team lost as hosts and also suffered an injury in the ranks of their best players.

Almost four months later, the two teams also met in the real World Cup, but in the semi-finals. And the match ended with the victory of the German national team 7: 1. One of the players of the Brazilian national team was also injured in this World Cup: in the quarter-finals, striker Neymar broke a vertebra in a collision with Colombian player Juan Zuniga and was unable to participate in the rest of the tournament. In the end, Germany became the world champion – as the Simpsons predicted.

3. Siegfried & Roy: The White Tiger Attacks Witches

Apparently, the creators of The Simpsons also had the right nose for charming duo Siegfried and Roy and were skeptical that animals’ love for predators could one day be the answer. In the 1993 episode “Possessed by the Devil”, witches Gunter and Ernst, who bear a close visual resemblance to Siegfried and Roy, appeared at Mr. Burns (Homer Simpson’s employer) casino. Part of their show is the white tiger Anastasia, who previously lived in the forest and, remembering him, attacked the two men on stage.

After nearly ten years, this is finally becoming a reality: Roy, better known as the Uwe Horn, was attacked by a white tiger Mantecore on October 3, 2003 during a show on his 59th birthday in Las Vegas and was seriously injured.

4. Disney acquires 20th Century Fox

It was one of the film industry’s most expensive and historical acquisitions: on March 20, 2019, 20th Century Fox was completely acquired by The Walt Disney Company. The first official reports of an initial partial purchase have been circulating since December 2017.

More than two decades ago, in the November 1998 episode of The Simpsons “Do You Know Famous Stars?” See a poster that reads “A division of The Walt Disney Company” under the 20th Century Fox logo.

5. Bart Simpson catches a three-eyed fish

In the 1990 episode “Fresh Fish with Three Eyes”, Bart and Lisa Simpson catch a three-eyes fish from a lake near the nuclear power plant where Father Homer works. The special visual feature of the fish in the chain is due to the fact that the head of the nuclear power plant, Mr. Burns, drains cooling water into the lake.

Nearly 21 years later, fishermen in Córdoba, Argentina, made a similarly unusual discovery, recovering a three-eyed wolffish from a tank near a local nuclear power plant.

6. A smartwatch pioneer: Lisa’s fiancé uses a watch to make phone calls

The inventors of The Simpsons also had a sixth sense when it came to technical innovations. In the 1995 episode “Lisa’s Marriage”, Lisa went to a fortune teller at the carnival. This anticipates Lisa’s future, as Lisa Hugh’s fiancé uses, among other things, a watch that you can use to make phone calls. Only about 20 years later, this technical function was first implemented by Apple in the form of a smartwatch.

7. Based on the style of “The Stray”

Another unusual prediction from this episode concerns a pyramid-shaped building seen behind the Tower Bridge during Lisa’s visit to London. Its shape and location is very similar to the realistic skyscraper “The Shard” in Southwark, London. Highlight: Construction of the high-rise began just 14 years later, in March 2009.

8. Did Homer predict the Higgs boson?

In the episode “In the Shadow of Genius”, which premiered in the United States in September 1998, Homer is determined to become an inventor. Among other things, he brought a complex equation to the board.

In 2015, British physicist Simon Singh claimed for the British online newspaper that this equation predicts the mass of the Higgs boson: “If you do this, you’ll get the mass of the Higgs boson slightly larger than the actual nanomass of the Higgs boson.” It’s amazing how Homer was able to find out 14 years before the particle was discovered. In fact, the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) only published experimental evidence of such a particle in July 2012, after making theoretical statements about it in the 1960s. The Higgs boson is an important component of the Standard Model of elementary particle physics. Its purpose is to explain how the block is created.

to me “daily MailSimpsons screenwriter David X, Cohen is said to be responsible for the equation in the episode, and he himself holds degrees in computer science and physics and has enlisted the help of his friend and Columbia University astronomer David Chimenovich.

9. Michelangelo’s David Facing Anger Statue

In the second season episode “Everything on TV” (1990), Marge, along with other women, began a campaign against violence depicted on television. When Michelangelo’s statue of the naked David was finally erected, there was a great protest. The result: David suddenly wears jeans.

Almost 26 years later, a similar scenario arose in Russia. Apparently, the statue of David was not only too nude for some residents of Springfield, but also of a St. Petersburg woman: a five-meter-high copy of David was erected in the city center near a school and a church, at which point a local resident complained of nudity in public. In response, a referendum was called, which eventually – unlike the Simpsons episode – resulted in no coverage.

The 10th US Presidential Election: Voting Machines Are Down

In the “Death Comes Three Times” episode of the Halloween movie “Treehouse of Horror,” which premiered in the United States on November 2, 2008, Homer goes to the voting machine to vote for Democrat Barack Obama. Because of a machine glitch that continues to show his vote for Republican John McCain. Homer is persistent, trying again and again until the machine wants to kill him.

According to media reports, in the US presidential election on November 4, 2008, Obama and McCain had problems with voting and voting machines. Nearly four years later, there were problems with the machines in the US presidential election between Obama and Mitt Romney. According to media reports, Republican Romney’s name continued to flash in Pennsylvania, despite voting for Obama.
