A new color for Ferrari from Barcelona?
Don’t worry, the F1-75 will of course still be red! However, our Italian colleagues report that the Scuderia can tweak the color a bit again – to save weight.
Because Ferrari is still overweight. The new color is said to save up to 700 grams. Incidentally, Ferrari is said to actually have the lightest color in the entire field.
However, as part of Barcelona’s modernization, one would like to push a little more…
Andretti: Why even 200 million don’t convince others
The math is actually simple: if a new team wants to enter Formula 1, they first have to put $200 million on the table. Andretti is willing to do so – but he still faces fierce resistance.
What’s wrong with you? Why are so many teams reluctant to have an eleventh racing team in the first division? Our analysis is here!
Alonso penalty: Alps want to rethink
We reported yesterday that Albin is not happy with anything but Alonso’s penalty in Miami. Team principal Otmar Szafnauer confirms: “It often happens that drivers make a mistake in a Chicane.”
In Monaco, for example, this is regularly the case. “They don’t do it on purpose. You just push hard. It’s the end of the race when the tires and brakes wear out,” he explains.
“Even a two-time world champion like Fernando can make a mistake,” said Szafnauer. Then the Spaniard gave back the time he had gained – and is still being punished.
“I think this is wrong,” he explains. They want to discuss the matter in Barcelona with the FIA.
False rumors about Latifi
Canadian journalist Norris MacDonald reported on Twitter yesterday that Latifi was expelled from Williams Airport. He wrote that his replacement was already fixed with Nyck DeVries – only to come back again shortly thereafter.
“Correction: Nick Latifi will continue as a Williams driver for the foreseeable future,” he reported shortly thereafter. He also apologized to his compatriot for the false report.
In fact, according to our information, Latifi will continue to sit in the cockpit for the time being. However, there are increasing signs that 2023 could be tight for him three years after Williams.
In a race duel against his new teammate Albon, she is currently 0:5 in his view.

…Riccardo Patrice won the 1990 San Marino Prix in Imola. The special thing about it: It was Patrice’s first win since the 1983 South African Grand Prix! With a waiting period of over six years, he easily made it to P1 in our photo series:

Speaking of Russell…
Besides world championship leader Leclerc, the Briton is the only driver this year to have completed 285 laps in the previous five races. He is also the only driver to finish all races in the top five.
In teams, Mercedes is still ahead with 569 out of a possible 570 laps. There is only one lap missing from Hamilton at Imola, as he got stuck in the back of the field and rolled.
Hamilton is looking for excuses.
Expert Tim Coronel was not impressed with world record champion Lewis Hamilton this year. Our Dutch colleagues from Motorsport.com told that the Mercedes driver was looking for “excuses” this year.
“Hamilton is very busy with piercings, jewelry and other nonsense,” he says, referring to the jewelry ban controversy. Meanwhile, teammate Russell let his on-track performances talk.
Despite his admiration for the Mercedes newcomer, Hamilton should focus on “real racing” rather than off-track issues, according to the 1994 Dutch Citroen AX Cup champion.
More conspiracy theories…
…we have collected them for you in this photo series! Since Maldonado’s number isn’t even the craziest…

Ten years ago today…
… Pastor Maldonado celebrated a totally surprising victory at the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix. Maldonado’s only victory in Formula 1 and so far was Williams’ last victory in Formula 1.
However, some observers are of the opinion that the victory in Barcelona still looks Spanish – in the truest sense of the word. Because Maldonado only hit the points five times in 20 races that season.
Aside from his victory with Spain, he has never finished better than fifth in his entire Formula 1 career. In addition, Maldonado was already more than 1.5 seconds faster than his teammate Bruno Senna in qualifying.
Assumption: The victory was a “gift” from Bernie Ecclestone to Frank Williams on his 70th birthday. A mysterious box fire after the race sparked rumors.
It will not be made clear if there were really “special tires” for Maldonado at that time…

Speaking of Ferraris…
Also information from our Italian colleagues: Today Ferrari is organizing a so-called Film Day in Monza. Leclerc is set to hit the track in F1-75 between 9:00am and 1:00pm.
Ferrari’s biggest building site at the moment is Top Speed. This should be improved with the Barcelona update. Maybe you want to use Movie Day to gather some data here.
However, the possibilities on such a day are manageable: only 100 kilometers are allowed on the special Pirelli test tyres.
It’s Friday then…
