Bremen eases coronavirus isolation rules

People with coronavirus without symptoms will be allowed to leave isolation in Bremen after five days without a negative test result. Thus, the Senate repealed a different regulation that it had only decided on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health announced. The reason for the new amendment was, among other things, comparison with the regulations in Lower Saxony and other federal states. For people with symptoms of corona, isolation ends 48 hours after symptoms subside. The test is not mandatory. The Senate recommends that citizens test themselves or themselves daily for the next five days after the end of seclusion. Healthcare and nursing workers may only test themselves for free with a negative PCR test on the fifth day of isolation, provided they have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours.

Lower Saxony: 8,952 new infections

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 8,952 new infections in Lower Saxony in the morning (prev.: 11516). The seven-day infection rate, the number of new infections per 100,000 population in one week, is now 663.7 – up from 697.5 the day before.

5:50 am

RKI: The nationwide infection rate is currently 485.7

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the nationwide seven-day infection rate this morning at 485.7. The day before, the value of new infections per 100,000 residents and the week was 502.4 (previous week: 553.2, previous month: 1044.7). However, the infection does not provide a complete picture of the infection status. Experts have been hypothesizing for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – due to the stress of health authorities and because not all infected people have a PCR test. Only these count in the stats. In addition, late registration or transmission problems can distort individual daily values. Health authorities in Germany recently reported 68,999 new coronavirus infections to RKI (previous day, 88,961, previous week: 85,073) within one day.

Biotech company Teterow is developing a new cellular treatment against the coronavirus

“Prodigy” – the miracle of children – is the name of a machine invented by the biotech company Miltenyi of Teterow that aims to enable new cell therapies against coronavirus infection, among other things. Bioengineers in Mecklenburg have automated the laboratory process in such a way that the machine sorts, differentiates and reprograms T cells from donating blood — depending on the disease the immune system’s “cell police officers” are supposed to fight. The lab in Teterow began researching cancer treatments. T cells from recovered donors should be used as a basis for COVID-19 treatments. According to managing director Tanno Hübel, the target group is high-risk patients and the elderly who contract Covid-19. An individual cell therapy should be created for each patient. The first clinical studies are being conducted in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Hamburg: Seven-day increase in incidence and decrease in cases

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) recorded 2,124 new cases of corona in Hamburg (previous day: 2409). The seven-day incidence rate is currently 468.3 after 457.0 the previous day.

Since the social authority in Hamburg stopped publishing Corona data on a daily basis at the beginning of May, the NDR now publishes the current figures from the RKI in the Corona Index every day. The Hanseatic City Health Authority only gives an update on the occurrence of seven days and hospital use once a week – on Tuesdays. These data and values may differ from those of RKI.

Schleswig-Holstein: 3,425 new infections were reported

The incidence of corona in the Schleswig-Holstein region has decreased to 700.1 (previous day: 724.6). This is according to information from the state registry office. A week ago, the number of new infections recorded per 100,000 inhabitants was 812.8 within seven days. However, given the low number of tests, among other things, it must be assumed that not all cases of corona will be officially registered. The number of new infections recorded reached 3,425, after 3,775 the day before and 3,903 in the week before.
