Thanks to a collaboration between Switzerland Tourism and Kuoni Tumlare, the range of “sustainable” packages can now be booked worldwide.
The sustainable offerings from Swiss tourism are now marketed all over the world. Following the launch of the ‘Swisstainable’ movement by Swiss Tourism (ST) with the entire industry last year, this show has become a world premiere with a range of shows on the ‘Swisstainable’ theme that can be booked directly. ST and global destination management company Kuoni Tumlare are entering into a collaboration for this.
Sustainable travel is a global need, not just since the pandemic. In 2021, the Swiss Tourism Authority (ST) and the entire tourism industry launched the “Swisstainable” movement to promote sustainable tourism in Switzerland. Sustainability is understood in all its dimensions: the environment, the economy and society.
Offers “Swisstainable” all over the world
The sustainable offerings from Swiss tourism are now being marketed globally. To this end, Kuoni Tumlare, an active and internationally known player in destination management, and ST signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last week in Zurich. The aim of this collaboration is to develop and sell sustainable Swiss tourism products worldwide over the next three years.
This means that for the first time, sustainable tourism experiences and offers in Switzerland can be clearly booked worldwide. The focus is on getting close to nature, authentically experiencing local culture and extending your stay in Switzerland, fully in line with ST’s sustainability strategy.

Start in the USA, Canada and Southeast Asia
For historical reasons, Kuoni Tumlare has a wide presence and is active in North America. The company also has a strong base of agents and motivated travel professionals in Southeast Asia. In addition, the trend towards sustainable travel is of particular importance in these markets.
For this reason, the cooperation will initially focus on the markets of North America (USA and Canada) and Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam), all of which are also of great interest to Swiss tourism. According to the Federal Statistical Office, guests from the United States achieved 2.4 million overnight stays in 2019, making the United States the second largest outbound market for Swiss tourism.
Product group training, bike riding, stimulating and study trips
At the beginning of the collaboration, four packages were created with the basic themes of trains or bike holidays for small groups and stimulating and educational excursions.
As part of their new collaboration, the two collaboration partners are incentivizing all Swiss tourism providers to participate in the “Swisstainable” program and to become part of the new Kuoni Tumlare product suite. On the other hand, the focus is on Kuoni Tumlare sales staff around the world, who are trained in “Swisstainable”. (htr/npa)
