MWith new seats and a revised interior design at ICE, Deutsche Bahn wants to attract more passengers to its trains. Passengers will be able to see the new design for the first time in December 2023 on the new ICE 3neo train, DB announced Wednesday. From now on, the equipment will be installed in all newly purchased long-distance trains. CEO Richard Lutz spoke of a “small design revolution”.
The focus is on the redesigned seats, where the upholstery, upholstery and adjustability have been revised. There are also additional sockets and storage areas on the seat, as well as light oak veneer and warm lighting meant to make the trains more comfortable. There is also a tablet stand and coat hooks on each backrest, and the covers are made of “high quality canvas with 85 percent wool.” In the second degree blue tones are provided, in the first degree gray tones.
“Travel, work, and relax – and at 300 km/h feel as comfortable as in your living room: the new design is geared towards our travelers’ requirements for modern travel convenience,” said the President of Bahn in the presentation.
DB has emphasized the use of trains for several decades. “In addition to the timeless design, heavy-duty, long-lasting materials are required.” On average, four passengers use a seat in ICE per day – “that’s 1,500 times a year”. The new materials have been extensively and extensively tested for abrasion, light resistance and cleaning results.
Most ICE’s earlier design dates back to the 1990s. When the new ICE4 was introduced in 2017, there was a lot of criticism for the seats. The train finally replaced them. To ensure this never happens again, 900 passengers pre-tested the new design seats. It is only for new trains, existing vehicles will not be upgraded.
