Fractal Design: Meshify 2 series gets RGB and Lite branches

With the Meshify 2 RGB and Meshify 2 Lite, Fractal Design is adding two more versions to its Airbox series. As the name already suggests, the RGB branch complements the previous concept with RGB lighting. In the Lite version, the concept was slightly modified and some features were cut.

Colorful RGB Accents

Fractal Design Meshify 2 RGB essentially takes all of the traditional Meshify 2 features (test) and complements the concept with more factory-installed fans and an integrated RGB controller.

While the Meshify 2 comes with a total of three Dynamic X2 GP-14 PWM fans, the Meshify 2 RGB uses four lighted Aspect 14 RGB PWM fans. In addition to the well-known fan hub, the case also contains a built-in RGB controller that is supposed to support popular ARGB software interfaces. On the I/O board, the previous reset button gives way to a switch for manual RGB lighting control. Due to the modifications, the total weight increases slightly to a total of 11.1 kg.

Fractal Design Meshify 2 RGB is available today in black and white. The recommended price is about 180 euros.

New body for the light version

With the new Meshify 2 Lite, Fractal Design uses a new body that, for economic reasons, no longer allows dual layout compared to the original Meshify 2 series. Therefore, the area behind the front fans cannot be converted to accommodate hard drives. The maximum number of drives that can be installed is reduced from 18 to 6. A closer look at the housing structure shows more differences compared to the Meshify 2 (RGB).

The Meshify 2 Lite cover section is securely attached to the chassis and cannot be removed. In addition, the dust filter is not made as a single component, but is laid flat on the cap. The vertical expansion slots have been removed without being replaced. Savings are also provided on the front element. Whereas the front dust filter was previously a single element behind the mesh front cover, the Meshify 2 Lite is now integrated into the mesh front element. To further reduce costs, the USB 3.2 Gen 2 port has been removed from the I/O board. However, it can be modified as an option. With all the savings, it’s questionable why Fractal Design doesn’t offer a solid version that uses steel instead of a glass sidewall.

When it comes to its pre-installed ventilation and fan options, Fractal Design makes no compromises and, as usual, includes three 140mm fans (the Aspect 14 model). Unlike the austerity cycle, Meshify 2 Lite will also be available as an RGB version. Like the Meshify 2 RGB, the Meshify 2 Lite RGB comes with a total of four 140mm illuminated fans and an ARGB controller. However, both Lite versions have to dispense with the fan hub.

Fractal Design Meshify 2 Lite is also available today in black and white. The recommended price is about 128 euros. The cost of Fractal Design Meshify 2 Lite RGB is about 150 euros. It is also available in black only.
