Surprisingly, Apple still found quite a few bugs in its release notes, but it also added new features. However, these are extensions of the existing options in iOS 15.4. Apple is expanding its passwordless technology. With iOS 15.5, it will be possible to log into websites on Mac and iPad using a passkey stored on the iPhone. iOS 15.5 will support new control features for Playstation Dualsense controllers. Additional vaccines can now be added to EU vaccination certificates in the Health and Wallet. In iMessage, the developer changes the label from Apple Pay to Apple Cash. Car Keys explains in more detail that the iPhone must not only be held by the key, but must be held roughly by the car door in order for the car to unlock.
With the latest release of iOS 15.5, Apple has also announced the bugs that have been fixed. This time there is an unusually large number on this list, 27 CVE-closed entries. One of them allowed you to bypass the private browsing setting in Safari while still tracking the user. A bug in Siri Shortcuts may allow access to users’ photos from the locked screen. There are quite a few bugs in Webkit, the rendering engine that powers Safari and all other iOS browsers.
Here is an overview of the new features of iOS 15.5:
Apple Cash Card: Order and Send
In the Wallet app, the large Request and Send buttons appear when you access your Apple Cash card ( Not yet available in GermanyAnd pointed out. editor)
iTunes Pass = Apple account balance
iTunes Pass, a long-standing feature for storing and managing iTunes Wallet balance, is renamed to an Apple Account or an Apple Account. The card works in Wallet as before and displays the unused balance in your Apple account. The name better reflects that it can be used in the App Store and in-app purchases, among other things. However, the name change was not included in the first beta of iOS 15.5.
Athletic and baseball kit
A new “SportsKit” framework has been in the works for some time, with hints going back to iOS 15.2. While it’s not yet available to developers, the framework will be improved in iOS 15.5 to better support information such as baseball scores for specific roles. Just in time for Friday baseball nights! ( Not in Germany either, but certainly less missed here, editor. editor)
classic apple
Apple acquired Primephonic classical music service in August 2021 and promised: “In the coming months, Apple Music Classical fans will get their own experience with Primephonic’s best features, including better browsing and composer and reference search capabilities, and detailed views of classical music metadata. music, and new features and benefits.”
Apple has not yet done this classic standalone experiment, but there are many references to “Apple Classical” in the iOS 15.5 code, so it may come preface with the final release.
In the current beta release notes, there is still a bug with Universal Control: Smooth Control for Mac and iOS devices in the first beta is not compatible with macOS 12.3 and iOS 15.4. Apple recommends bringing the corresponding devices to iOS 15.5 and macOS 12.4 beta.
In the latest iOS 15.5 beta, Apple has taken better control of downloaded podcasts. You can now specify the maximum number of programs that can be stored on the iPhone. For this, the system can identify and delete old episodes and load current episodes instead. If you subscribe to a podcast but don’t listen to it regularly, the app can quickly take up a lot of space on your device. The new controls will expect this.
The latest version of iOS is available in the Settings app under the General tab in the Software Update area. (Macworld)
