Chemnitz Baselabs GmbH celebrates its 10th birthday this week with an event in the structure. The company strives to achieve the vision of “Safe automated driving for all vehicles”. The starting point was a research work on recording the car environment with different sensors at the Professorship of Communication Engineering at Chemnitz University of Technology. The goal was to develop software solutions for driver assistance systems to increase safety, comfort and energy efficiency in road traffic.

The Chemnitz program is on the go around the world

In the early years, the focus of Basellabs’ work was primarily on initial developments. In 2017, the focus was on developing our own software products for integration into the vehicle chain, which could be used by vehicle manufacturers and suppliers. In the meantime, it was possible to put the program developed in Chemnitz into the first series of vehicles: “Such successes will increase in the coming years – more and more BuzzLabs will be on the roads all over the world,” Robin Schubert is convinced. The managing director looks back on the past 10 years with a good feeling: “In 2012 we dared to make the leap from science to entrepreneurship. Since then, BuzzLabs has consistently and consistently evolved into a mid-sized company that provides significant impetus for driving automation with its products.” In addition to Robin Schubert, engineers Norman Matern and Eric Richter and entrepreneur Holger Lobel were part of the founding team ten years ago and today they hold leadership positions in the company. In its founding year, BuzzLabs was able to increase its number of employees to twelve. The company now employs 46 permanent employees and students and works for many well-known automobile manufacturers and vehicle suppliers around the world.

“An important partner in the automotive industry”

In 2014, The Vector Group, the leading global specialist in software for everything related to vehicles, joined Baselabs GmbH as a strategic investor. “We know how challenging and long the path from innovation to implementation in the vehicle chain is in the automotive industry. The stated objective of our investment at the time as an experienced player was to provide support and support as partners,” says Thomas Beck, Managing Director of Vector Informatik GmbH, on the occasion of its 10th anniversary For Baselabs GmbH: “The Baselabs team has successfully overcome many obstacles in recent years and has established itself as an important partner in the automotive industry,” Beck continues.
