Last year, Naomi Osaka (WTA 38) withdrew from the French Open after the first round because she no longer wanted to attend the mandatory press conferences due to mental issues. Coming back 12 months later was not crowned with success either. Four-time Grand Slam winner 5:7, 4:6 failed at first chance at Amanda Anisimova (WTA 28). Anisimova had already knocked out Japan in the third round of the Australian Open in January. Osaka never progressed past the third round in Paris.
