The Japanese crossover comes with 131 horsepower, check consumption and cost. What are the advantages of complex hybrid technology?
“With good comfort, smart versatility, plenty of space, quality upholstery and plenty of utility equipment, the HR-V is the better car, but not very efficient in the effort.” In the conclusion of our test editor, Sebastian Reigns, criticizes the crossover hybrid technology — at least in terms of its impact on fuel consumption. Now we’re taking a closer look at this, just like the overhead cost balance for the Japanese.
Our test consumption
Honda calls the HR-V E: HEV a hybrid with a power of 131 hp, in which a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine takes the combustion part, a standard WLTP consumption of 5.4 liters. In the test, this becomes 6.2 liters, which results in a fuel cost of 13.26 euros for 100 kilometers. At 5.4 liters, the Eco consumption is exactly the level of WLTP; The gasoline equivalent required for 100 km drops to 11.55 euros. Sports drivers drive consumption to 9.6 liters and with it the fuel price reaches 20.53 euros. It is calculated using the daily updated fuel price on our partner portal mehr-tanken.de (05/27/2022 / Super: 2.139 € / liter).

Test consumption consists of 70% of the passenger tour and 15% of both the Eco and Sport.
Monthly maintenance costs
Year after year, a vehicle tax of €85 must be paid for the HR-V E: HEV. According to Allianz Direct, liability insurance costs €422 for the same period. A partially comprehensive upgrade costs an additional €112. Additional €727 due for a fully inclusive policy. In general, the monthly maintenance costs are 270 euros if the Honda is transported 15,000 kilometers per year. If the mileage is doubled, the HR-V E: HEV costs €493 per month. We leave the loss in value in this account.

Honda HR-V E: HEV costs at least 33,600 euros in advanced equipment.
This is how it is tested
The car and sport engine depreciation test consists of three different depreciation cycles. The so-called “passenger consumption” accounts for 70 per cent. This is a trip from home to work, and it averages 21 kilometers. A particularly economical eco-roll, the length of which is about 275 kilometers, is included in the rating by 15 percent. The remaining 15 percent is calculated on the lap of the sporty driver. The length is about the same as the eco lap, but the track has a greater proportion of the highway and therefore higher average speeds. The basis for calculating fuel costs is always the price displayed on the “More tanks” portal on the day the article was created.
Monthly maintenance costs include maintenance, wear parts costs and vehicle taxes based on assumed annual mileage of 15,000 and 30,000 km without loss of value. Calculation based on trial depreciation, three-year retention period, no-claims SF12 liability category and all-inclusive insurance with Allianz Direct, including discounts for garage parking and restrictions on certain drivers (no accidents/annually 15,000 km/resident in code area Postal 70174 / Not less than 21 / Partner driver over 25 years old.
conclusion
Honda HR-V E: HEV with a 131-horsepower hybrid engine, in which a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine takes the combustion part, costs at least 33,600 euros in advanced equipment and consumes an average of 6.2 liters, resulting in a fuel cost of 13.26 euros per 100 km. Monthly maintenance costs €270 for 15,000 km per year. If this increases to 30,000 km, the amount increases to 493 euros.
